An eye-catching headline in the feed: Vegas gives Phillies MLB’s lowest projected win total.
How the mighty have fallen. Just a few years ago, back in 2011, it looked like the Phillies had baseball licked. They were loaded with All-Stars in the rotation, in the field, and at the plate. They were willing to shell out for top talent, and seemed poised to become the Yankees of the National League: perpetual contenders with an open checkbook and a fan base to back it up.
Now many of those stars are gone or fading away, and the vultures are circling around South Philly, trying to land Cole Hamels and strip the team of its last major asset. And only one World Series victory to show for all that appearance of success. Crazy.
